Uzbekistan plans to grant citizenship to investors for a million dollars

The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade has developed amendments to the law on Uzbek citizenship and published them for public discussion.

The bill proposes a simplified procedure for granting Uzbek citizenship to foreign citizens or stateless persons who have invested at least $1 million in investment projects in the country. Investors, famous scientists, athletes, cultural figures and artists from other countries would be able to apply.

The Central Securities Depository or the Public Services Agency will issue an investment certificate, which will be attached to the application for citizenship.

Discussion of amendments to the law will last until November 23.
